Drawing and Painting Class – Instructor John Murdoch

Sundays 10 am-1pm (8 weeks) all levels

Starting September 19th - November 7th $260

Work for 8 weeks in drawing or painting. This is a mixed drawing in charcoal or pencil and painting in oil class for all levels. Class size is small and students focus on individual projects with demonstrative instruction. For teenage students and adults. Ideal for college portfolio preparation. Drawing skills are emphasized in an easy going but focused approach. Subjects can include portraits, still life or landscape.


Portrait painting class in oil, Live model- instructor John Murdoch

Fridays 10 am-1pm (8 weeks) Beginner to intermediate

Starting September 3rd - October 29th, $260

Work from a live model for multiple sessions. Class will focus on getting a good drawing and then building layers of oil paint to an old master finish. Also included: setting up a portrait palette and mixing flesh tones, getting a likeness, anatomy, expression and how to finish.


Drawing from the live model / Open Model Sessions

Mondays are 3 one hour poses, 10 am-1pm

Wednesdays are a long pose that repeats the same model/pose for many weeks, 10 am- 1pm

Fridays – seated clothed portrait pose, repeats all month


Draw from the nude model in charcoal. Learn the basics of solid drawing skills using shape, proportion, light/dark, and gesture. This is for all levels, instruction is individualized by John Murdoch for all levels. Class is for adults. High school students welcome with parent permission.

Taught in 9 week segments any day, start anytime, $275- This covers the cost of the model + instruction. Or drop in uninstructed for $12/day, $10/session for more than one, or $50/6 sessions
